I have patronised the Duke for the last 10 years and couldn’t help but think that their balcony was a really wasted space. There was a dead conifer and a few broken beer glasses in the flower boxes. I started transforming and maintaining it in spring 2007 and it has literally grown from there. I am incredibly passionate and proud of my association with Jon and the team at the Duke. They have given me a wonderful canvas to show my work.
This summer saw a first as we planted vegetables and fruit for the staff. They have been dining on strawberries, peas, chard, sweet corn, Brussels sprouts and tomatoes all summer, as well as serving fresh mint and lemon balm tea. It has been a triumph. I do believe it has become the talking point of Preston circus – bring it on.
